A Plea for Calm

Here is my piece published by the Christian Science Monitor on the Trayvon Martin killing. The piece argues that before we rush to judgement in this case we should let due process play out. Even though Zimmerman has avoided arrest and indictment, the episode is far from over. The public outcry is appropriate, I think, but cries for ‘street justice’ are inappropriate. Guilt or innocence should be determined through the legal system, not through the media.
